Last night was a lot of fun. I couldn’t sleep for crap last night, so coffee is my friend. The weather outlook has improved significantly. I am very excite!

That red Cherokee in front of my truck, that’s David Tracy’s. We chatted for about an hour and a half or two. Very nice guy. He lent a hand in folding up our pop-up camper, and jump-started our buddy’s Suburban.

Coolness! Did you know he was going to be there, or did you find him by accident? :) Always nice to get to meet others from the JalOpposphere!

I knew he was coming. I offered safe close parking when he wrote about coming to the race. He took me up on it.

How was it? I’m sure it was a blast. Did David try & pawn one of his Jeep’s on you?

Did you discuss the metro and plans, goals ,& accomplishments? What’s David’s take on that. I’d figure he’d be stoked. As not many people go through with stupid crazy ideas like that.

I heard that people just rent out their front yards for camping and parking. Seems like one hell of a party.

It was a blast! I’ve been going to the 500 every year since ‘97, and we’ve been doing the camping in a guy’s front yard thing for the last eight years. It is a ton of fun. Although the weather forecast was really bad for Saturday night and Sunday, so the night before crowd was a lot smaller than normal.

David did not try to pawn a Jeep on me. He did like my idea for a Moab project for next year: Fix the J-10, build a lightweight trailer for the CJ-2, and then use the J-10 to tow the CJ-2 to Moab.

The RallyMetro didn’t come up, but I’m sure he would’ve enjoyed that. We talked about a ton of stuff, and I’m sure we could’ve talked for hours more, but he had to go get his press pass.
